Stu Kantor, PBS PR Stalwart, Named Director of Creative Communications & Editorial Services for PBS Learning Media

ALEXANDRIA, VA - February 17, 2000 - Stu Kantor, director of PBS's corporate communications department and a 20-year public television veteran, has been appointed director of creative communications and editorial services for PBS Learning Media. The PBS Learning Media division includes PBS Home Video, PBS VIDEO (the education market) and the shopPBS e-commerce site.

In this newly created position, Mr. Kantor oversees the editorial content of the division's print, online and electronic communications, and serves as the communications liaison to PBS Learning Media's sales, marketing and production partners, including producers and member stations. Mr. Kantor, who assumed his new post February 1, reports to Eric L. Sass, senior vice president, PBS Learning Media.

Mr. Kantor was promoted to corporate communications head in 1996, managing media relations and public communications focused on corporate, revenue-generating, new media, digital transition and education activities. He joined PBS in 1983 as an editorial associate in the public information department. He became assistant director of corporate communications in 1985 and associate director two years later.

Earlier in his career, Mr. Kantor was a researcher-reporter with THE LAWMAKERS, a weekly PBS series on Congress, produced by WETA Washington, DC, and research and talent coordinator for WHY IN THE WORLD, a PBS current-affairs series for high school students. He was also a government affairs writer for the American Association of School Administrators and reported for The Albuquerque Tribune, the Des Moines Register and the White Plains (N.Y.) Reporter-Dispatch.

Mr. Kantor, who holds a B.A. in English and linguistics from the University of Rochester and an M.A. in American politics from the American University, is a public relations adviser to the Turner's Syndrome Society of the United States.
