PBS Receives 37 Daytime Emmy Entertainment Award NominationsPublic Media Programs Receive 51 Nominations Combined
On May 9, the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences announced the nominees for the 39th Annual Daytime Emmy Entertainment Awards. PBS and our programs received 37 Daytime Emmy Entertainment Award nominations. In addition, APT and NETA received a total of 14 nods, for a combined total of 51 nominations for public media. Among the PBS programs with multiple nominations are SESAME STREET (16), THE ELECTRIC COMPANY (6), CURIOUS GEORGE and DESIGN SQUAD earned two nominations each. PBS programs dominated nominations in several categories: Outstanding Children’s Animated Program, Outstanding Performer in a Children’s Series, Outstanding Directing in a Children’s Series and Outstanding Writing in a Children’s Series. In addition, PBS programs swept nominations in the New Approaches – Daytime Children’s Award category. The Daytime Emmy Awards will be presented on June 23, 2012, from the Beverly Hilton. The Daytime Entertainment Creative Arts Emmy Awards Gala will be held June 17, 2012, at the Westin Bonaventure in Los Angeles.
