PBS programs received nine News & Documentary Emmy® awards, the second most-earned by any organization. The 34th Annual News & Documentary Emmy® Awards were presented on October 1, 2013, at the Time Warner Center in New York City by the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (NATAS).
FRONTLINE received seven awards. In addition, FRONTLINE executive producer and founder David Fanning was honored with the prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award.
“Under David’s leadership, FRONTLINE has always focused on the most contentious issues of our times, and never shied away from asking questions others might find too uncomfortable," said PBS President & CEO Paula Kerger. "David has combined his unmatched reportorial instincts with a fine filmmaker’s sensibilities, and the result is a series that is unlike any other on television. As we celebrate David’s career with this well-deserved Lifetime Achievement Award, I look forward to another thirty years of groundbreaking, provocative work from the FRONTLINE team and I look forward to the important stories David will tell in the years ahead.”
