On April 19, 21 and 26 the University of Georgia’s Grady College of Journalism and Mass Communication announced winners for the 75th Annual Peabody Awards for the best in electronic media for 2015. PBS programs received 5 awards including, FRONTLINE “Isis in Afghanistan,” INDEPENDENT LENS “India’s Daughter,” MASTERPIECE “Wolf Hall,” PBS NewsHour “Desperate Journey,” and POV “Don’t Tell Anyone (No Le Digas a Nadie).”
The Peabody Awards will be presented during a ceremony hosted by Keegan-Michael Key on May 21, 2016 at Cipriani Wall Street in New York.

FRONTLINE “ISIS IN AFGHANISTAN”

PBS NEWSHOUR “DESPERATE JOURNEY”

Reporting on the men, women and children fleeing Syria and other Middle Eastern war zones, NewsHour’s "Desperate Journey" series captured the life and breadth of the worst displaced person crisis since World War II: the initial, inspirational hospitality of European hosts, the eventual resistance as the waves of humanity became overwhelming, and the hopes and horrors experienced by the refugees themselves.
POV “DON’T TELL ANYONE (NO LE DIGAS A NADIE)”
A co-production of Portret Films, American Documentary | POV And Independent Television Service (ITVS) in association with Latino Public Broadcasting (LPB) with major funding provided by The Corporation For Public Broadcasting (CPB)
An activist on behalf of young, undocumented immigrants like herself, 24-year-old Angy Rivera, a New York City resident since she was 4, is the eloquent focus of this documentary. What makes it even more memorable is how filmmaker Mikaela Shwer uses Rivera’s story to illuminate the plight of untold numbers of immigrants living in secrecy and fear.
