Email share

On April 12, 2016, finalists for the 75th Annual Peabody Awards, honoring the best in electronic media for 2015, were announced. Out of the sixty total finalists selected by the awards’ board of jurors, PBS programs account for twelve nominations. Additionally, filmmaker Stanley Nelson will be honored with an individual Peabody Award. Nelson is the filmmaker behind the Peabody-winning documentaries “The Murder of Emmet Till,” “Freedom Summer” and “Freedom Riders.” Nelson is also the filmmaker behind the highly acclaimed “The Black Panthers: Vanguard of the Revolution,” which aired on PBS in February 2016.

Winners will be announced on Facebook Live on April 19 and April 26. Additional winners will be announced on NBC’s “Today” on April 21.

The Peabody Awards will be presented during a ceremony hosted by Keegen-Michael Key on May 21, 2016 at Cipriani Wall Street in New York.
