On December 11, 2018, The Columbia Journalism School announced the winners for the 2019 Alfred I. duPont-Columbia Awards. PBS programs received four duPont Batons, including FRONTLINE and THE VIETNAM WAR.
The duPont-Columbia Awards uphold the highest standards in journalism by informing the public of journalists' contributions in a calendar year. FRONTLINE received the duPont Gold Baton, the awards’ highest honor and the first Gold Baton awarded in a decade.
PBS NEWSHOUR received a Silver Baton for its investigative partnership with Reveal, PRX and Associated Press to produce “Kept Out,” a researched exposé on modern day “redlining,” or denying mortgages and home loans to people of color. Florentine Films and WETA also received a Silver Baton for uncovering the epic story of the Vietnam War as it has never before been told on film in the 10-part series THE VIETNAM WAR
The 77th annual awards ceremony will take place on Tuesday, January 22, 2019, at Columbia University’s Low Memorial Library, and will be co-hosted by CBS News “60 Minutes” Correspondent Lesley Stahl and NPR’s Ailsa Chang, host of “All Things Considered.”
