On Tuesday, January 22, 2019, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced the 91st Annual Academy Award® nominations. PBS received three nominations, including “Hale County This Morning, This Evening” and “Minding the Gap” for Best Documentary Feature.
Premiering on PBS Monday, February 18 on POV, “Minding the Gap,” co-produced with ITVS, shares the intimate story of three young men building a bond as they escape volatile families in their Rust Belt hometown. The critically acclaimed "Hale County This Morning, This Evening" from INDEPENDENT LENS, premiering Monday, February 11, offers PBS viewers a richly detailed glimpse at life in America’s Black Belt.
POV “A Night At the Garden” earned a Best Documentary Short Subject nomination. The short film uses striking archival fragments recorded from a Nazi rally at Madison Square Garden to shine a light on the disturbing fallibility of seemingly decent people.

The awards will be announced at the Dolby Theatre at Hollywood & Highland Center in Los Angeles. The show will air live on Sunday, February 24 at 8:00 p.m. ET on ABC.
