The International Documentary Association announced the winners of the 34th Annual IDA Documentary Awards on Saturday, December 8, 2018 at Paramount Studios, Los Angeles. In total, PBS programs and filmmakers received five awards.
Among the PBS honorees, POV was honored with the award for Best Curated Series.
“Minding the Gap” from POV won the coveted Best Feature Award, which honors and promotes the world's best documentary filmmaking. The documentary also received an award for Best Editing and Emerging Filmmaker - Bing Liu. Scheduled to air February 18, 2019, "Minding the Gap" shares the intimate story of three young men building a bond as they escape volatile families in their Rust Belt hometown.
"Hale County This Morning, This Evening" from INDEPENDENT LENS was recognized for Best Music Score. On February 11, 2019, "Hale County This Morning, This Evening" offers PBS viewers a richly detailed glimpse at life in America’s Black Belt.
