On July 25, 2017 The National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (NATAS) announced the nominees for the 38th Annual News & Documentary Emmy® Awards, for which PBS programs received 46 nominations, the most earned by any organization. The awards honor programming distributed during the 2016 calendar year.
PBS programs receiving multiple nominations include FRONTLINE (12), POV (11), INDEPENDENT LENS (10), NATURE (3) and PBS NewsHour (2). A complete list of PBS nominations is below.
"Americans are searching for programs that explore new ideas and perspectives, and they’re finding them on public television,” said Paula Kerger, PBS President and CEO. “We are proud to work alongside an extraordinary group of producers who present content that educates, engages and inspires. PBS also congratulates fellow public television nominees, NETA, for earning nods for Symphony of the Soil and Munich ’72 and Beyond and World, for earning nods for Doc World and America ReFramed (2). These nominations bring the total number of Public Television nominations to 51.
