PBS Names Marketing Executive Adrienne Cleere Vice President, Strategic Partnerships

Group to Focus on Integrated Marketing Opportunities and Comprehensive, Long-term Alliances

ALEXANDRIA, VA, May 21, 2001 - Adrienne Cleere, a marketing executive with extensive strategic planning, brand positioning and sales experience, has been appointed vice president, strategic partnerships, for the Public Broadcasting Service (PBS). The announcement was made today by Judy L. Harris, executive vice president, PBS Businesses. Ms. Cleere, who is based in the offices of PBS member station WNET/New York, begins work today. She reports to Ms. Harris. As part of its commitment to increase PBS and member station revenues through innovative, long-term alliances, PBS is leveraging its sponsorship team to develop long-term strategic partnerships. Ms. Cleere will lead a group charged with identifying private-sector companies whose goals are in alignment with those of PBS, and building more integrated, multi-platform marketing partnerships.

"Strategic partnerships are the key to success in today's competitive media environment," said Ms. Harris. "Adrienne, with her wide-ranging experience and record of accomplishment, is the perfect individual to lead PBS in building new alliances that will enable us to better serve our member stations and create value for our corporate partners. We are delighted to have her on board."

Ms. Cleere comes to PBS after six years as president of Cleere Strategic Alliances, Inc., a New York-based consulting firm specializing in marketing, brand positioning, strategic planning and the development of promotional partnerships for corporations with a customer-driven focus. Clientele included Sotheby's, Oppenheimer Funds and the High Museum in Atlanta. Prior to that, she served as vice president of international marketing for Bloomingdale's. Earlier in her career, she advanced quickly and distinguished herself in senior-level posts at Fairchild Publications, publisher of W Magazine; East West Network, a publisher of in-flight magazines; and American Express.

Among her many professional affiliations, Ms. Cleere serves on the board of directors of Cancer Care and is a past board member of American Women's Economic Development and The Fashion Group. She is a graduate of the University of Georgia and completed professional coursework at both Harvard and Columbia Universities.
