Free Online Event on February 11 to Give Middle and High School Students an Inside Look at France State Dinner and United States Diplomacy Efforts

WHAT: In celebration of the upcoming France state dinner on Tuesday, February 11, PBS LearningMedia launched the Global Learning and Diplomacy Collection of digital resources to foster global awareness and insight into U.S. diplomacy initiatives for middle and high school students and educators. The collection includes images, videos, lesson plans, and interactives focused on global awareness and the United States leaders and organizations working on diplomacy initiatives. The U.S. Department of State and Office of the First Lady facilitated access to a wide variety of historical materials from the current and past administrations that enhance this library of educational resources. The PBS LearningMedia Global Learning and Diplomacy Collection also features resources that highlight France’s unique culture, history, geography and education system showcasing how students in France live and learn.

In collaboration with the U.S. Department of State, PBS LearningMedia will host a live online discussion focused on the history and relevance of state dinners and the importance of global learning.

WHO: Classrooms nationwide are invited to join distinguished diplomacy leaders for a live webinar in advance of the upcoming France state dinner. The First Lady of the United States will welcome students to the webinar in a video message about the state dinner with France. Speakers include:
