– PBS to Provide On-Demand Access to Favorite Programs Such as AMERICAN MASTERS, FRONTLINE, NATURE, MASTERPIECE & More –
ARLINGTON, VA; November 19, 2013 -- PBS announced today that full-length episodes and clips from favorite PBS programs will be available for users in the United States starting today directly on Apple TV.
PBS programming on Apple TV will include hundreds of videos from PBS stations, including full-length episodes from new primetime programs as well as the PBS archives, with new national and local content updated daily. Users will have access to episodes from favorite series such as AMERICAN MASTERS, FRONTLINE, NATURE and MASTERPIECE as well as dozens of web-original videos from PBS Digital Studios, winner of five 2013 Webby Awards. Recently added content includes AMERICAN EXPERIENCE "JFK"; NOVA "Cold Case JFK" and SECRETS OF THE DEAD "JFK: One PM Central Standard Time."
Apple TV viewers can personalize their PBS experiences by creating a profile and identifying their local PBS station, which will provide them access to their favorite locally produced shows along with signature PBS programs. Many programs will be available for viewing within 24 hours of their broadcast.
“Given the tremendous success of our PBS Video apps for iPad and iPhone, we know PBS already has a large number of fans enjoying our content through Apple devices. Apple TV is a natural place for us to be,” said Jon Brendsel, Vice President of Product Development, PBS Digital. “While PBS stations are the first place to enjoy public television programming, bringing our programming to Apple TV is another way we’re allowing viewers to engage with their local station when and how it’s most convenient for them.”
