PBS KIDS Programs Win Eight Parents' Choice Television Awards

Winners of the 2012 Parents’ Choice Television Awards were announced April 12. In total, PBS KIDS and our producers took home eight awards, including Gold Awards for Electric Company, Sid the Science Kid, Design Squad Nation, Sesame Street and Sesame’s Growing Hope Against Hunger special. A Silver Award went to Dinosaur Train, while Wild Kratts and The Cat in the Hat Knows a Lot About That! were “Recommended.”

On March 29, Parents Choice announced the Spring 2012 Small Screen Award winners. PBS and producers combined for 10 awards across this set of categories.

PBS producers also won four awards in the Mobile Apps category. Sesame Workshop’s Another Monster at the End of This Book iPad app received a Gold Award, and their Elmo Loves ABCs iPad app took a Silver Honor. The FETCH! Lunch Rush app developed by WGBH also received a Silver Honor. And receiving a “Recommended” distinction was The Electric Company-Feel Electric! iPad app.

Silver Award winners in the Website category include sites for Cyberchase, Dinosaur Train, Sid the Science Kid and Sesame Street. The Cat in the Hat Knows a Lot About That! was “Recommended” and Shalom Sesame was “Approved.” Combined, PBS and producers won six awards in the category.
