February 5, 2007 ARLINGTON, VA - PBS President & CEO, Paula Kerger announced the appointment of two new members to the PBS Foundation Board of Directors - software industry leader, Bruce Chizen and long-time public broadcasting veteran, Henry Becton Jr. - during the meeting of the full PBS Board.

"We are delighted to welcome Bruce and Henry on our Foundation Board," said Paula Kerger. "They are both exceptional leaders and each brings important perspective - from corporate America and from one of public television's flagship stations. We look forward to working with them to cultivate new relationships as the Foundation moves forward in its mission."

Since being named CEO of Adobe Systems Incorporated in 2000, Bruce Chizen has turned a company known mainly for its popular design products into one of the most significant forces in the software industry today. Under Chizen's leadership, the company has grown to a $2.6 billion multi-national with more than 6,000 employees worldwide. Prior to his tenure at Adobe, Chizen held positions at Claris Corporation, Microsoft Corporation and Mattel Electronics. He currently serves on the board of Synopsys, Inc. and is a former board member of the Children's Discovery Museum of San Jose.

As head of the WGBH Educational Foundation, Boston, Henry Becton Jr. presides over WGBH's public television and radio stations and its wide range of national production ventures, educational publishing activities, and media access initiatives. Under his leadership, WGBH has become one of PBS's most prolific source of primetime programs, children's programs and Web content as well as a key supplier of programs heard on public radio stations across the country. Becton joined WGBH in 1970 and was elected President in 1984. After more than two decades serving as chief executive of Boston's public broadcaster, Becton will step down in October 2007, but will remain active with WGBH, serving as Vice Chair of the Board of Trustees. He also serves on the Board of America's Public Television Stations and Public Radio International.
