On May 27, the British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) announced the winners of the 2012 Arqiva British Academy Television Awards. Andrew Scott received the Supporting Actor Award for his role as Moriarity in MASTERPIECE MYSTERY! “Sherlock.” (Watch Scott’s acceptance speech.)
At the ceremony, Steven Moffat, writer and producer of “Sherlock,” received the 2012 BAFTA Television Special Award for his outstanding creative writing contribution to television, dating back to 1989.
On May 13, BAFTA announced the winners of its 2012 Television Craft Awards, honoring writing, make-up, editing, lighting and special effects.
MASTERPIECE programs were recognized with seven trophies. The winners are:

In addition to the MASTERPIECE honors, Aidan Farrell received a BAFTA Special Award. The colorist has worked on such series as “Downton Abbey”and ”Wallander.” In total, PBS programs received 20 BAFTA Craft Award nominations. This includes a sweep of all nominations in the Costume Design category, and scoring three of four nods in the Editing: Fiction and Sound: Fiction categories.
