MASTERPIECE Programs Earn Four Golden Globe Nominations

MASTERPIECE CLASSIC "Downton Abbey, Season 3," Benedict Cumberbatch

Nominees for the 70th annual Golden Globe Awards were announced Dec. 13, 2012 by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association. PBS congratulates MASTERPIECE, which received a total of four nominations for the series’ programs and stars. Winners will be announced during a live telecast on Jan. 13, 2013.


MASTERPIECE CLASSIC "Downton Abbey" is nominated for Best Television Series - Drama. Michelle Dockery (“Lady Mary Crawley”) received a nomination for Best Performance by an Actress in a Television Series - Drama. In addition, Dame Maggie Smith (“Violet, Dowager Countess of Grantham”) is nominated for Best Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role in a Series, Miniseries or Motion Picture Made for Television.


MASTERPIECE MYSTERY! "Sherlock" star Benedict Cumberbatch was also recognized for his portrayal of the title role, earning a nomination for Best Performance by an Actor in a Miniseries or Motion Picture Made for Television.
