JOSEPH A. CAMPBELL III NAMED PBS VICE PRESIDENT, FUNDRAISING PROGRAMMING

ARLINGTON, VA, April 16, 2007 - Following a nation-wide search, public television veteran Joseph A. Campbell III, who currently serves as Program Director at PBS member station WLIW in New York, NY, has been named PBS Vice President, Fundraising Programming. Mr. Campbell will report to John Wilson, PBS Chief TV Programming Executive. He will be a key member of the Senior Programming Team lead by John Boland, PBS Chief Content Officer. Mr. Campbell will begin his tenure at PBS on May 7.

"Joe's extensive station background, pledge production experience, and knowledge of the marketplace make him an exceptional person for this position," said Mr. Wilson. "His long-standing career in public television allows him to blend the fundraising needs of member stations with our shared mission to educate, entertain and inspire. Upon joining PBS, Mr. Campbell will be responsible for managing the selection and distribution of fundraising specials for use by member stations. He will also be charged with reviewing and evaluating proposals and programs for the National Programming Service (NPS) as a member of the Senior Programming Team.

Mr. Campbell comes to PBS with more than 24 years of public television programming experience, having worked at four member stations during his career. At WLIW, Mr. Campbell created successful on-air fundraising; helped design, develop and implement the WLIW Pledge Enhancement Packages; oversaw the production of five weekly programs; and acquired and scheduled all on-air programming. He also served in key programming positions at KAET-TV/Arizona State University, Phoenix, AZ; WGTE/Toledo Public Broadcasting, Toledo, OH; and WOSU/Ohio State University, Columbus, OH.

A graduate of American University, Mr. Campbell holds a B.A. in Political Science and has completed course work towards a Master's degree in Liberal Studies from the University of Toledo. He is a member of the British Academy of Film and Television Arts; the Public Television Programmers Association (President, 2003 and Board of Directors, 1999-2005); the Pacific Mountain Network (Board of Directors, 1995-1998); and the Central Education Network (Vice Chairman, Board of Directors, 1993-1995). He has also served on numerous advisory committees for a variety of national productions.
